February 2019

The day before leap day, except there is no February 29 this year.

Still though, the countless people who have a 2/29 birthday will still turn another year older.

I’ve met some leap day people before, but I can’t think of one name. Can you?

If my digital photo archives are accurate (and I don’t think they are), this picture was taken four years ago. February 2015 in the year of our Lord. I still miss the old hometown fire department slogan, “You light ’em – We fight ’em.”

It was raining. It was cold. But it was one of the little joys in life. Our intermediate schooler wanted to put together a project for extra credit. It’s a lot like that mouse trap board game, but it’s a little more involved. The preparation included a trip to the hardware store, the big box store, and a few other odds & ends. It took multiple attempts and several modifications. In the end, it was a success. Here’s the end result. Despite the weather-inflicted misery on us all, this Sunday brought more pride to me than any other in recent memory. You’ll see why below.
